People who have confidence will take their dreams and make them come true because they will take immediate, massive, repeated action and will never quit until their dreams come true. No matter what your dream is, you can take that dream and turn it into a reality when you have the confidence that you can get out there and find people to help you do your dream and you can handle "No"...you'll hear that word many times before you do your dream. Many people will say, "No". And having that confidence to overcome that is necessary...for every obstacle thrown in your path you will realize that you can go around it. Your dream is very possible when you have that ultimate belief in yourself and what you are doing.

Tags: Dream, Goals, Confidence,

Food for thought

The fact is, that to do anything in the world worth doing, we must not stand back shivering and thinking of the cold and danger, but jump in and scramble through as well as we can.

Unleash the inner me

I'm tired of being someone who everybody wants me to be.
Trapped and scared in my own insecurities.
I just wanna be free! Over the years, I've noticed that there are some high achievers who have succeeded without setting goals at all but I must emphasise that setting your goals, writting them down and your commitment to it determines your success. I setting your goal, you have to be sure it's simple as in , it should be measurable or else you won't attain it.See it as achievable, realistic and make it time bound. But I want to let you know thatWhether or not you set goals, you need clarity and passion to be successful. I want to emphasize that those who have made it,having written their goals still had a clear vision of what they wanted to do in their lives. They were and are passionate about their work, they are constantly learning and growing in their field, they are willing to take risks, and they are committed to doing whatever it takes to keep moving forward. People who are vague and uncertain never attain long-term success.

Technorati Tags:Motivation, Goals, Success, Lifestyle

Great Men-Napoleon Hill

Napoleon Hill was born in poverty October 26, 1883 in a one room log cabin on Pound River in the mountains of Wise County in southwest Virginia. The year after his mother died, his father remarried and Napoleon's stepmother became his guiding light and inspiration. Napoleon was nine years old. Through the influence of his stepmother Hill became a newspaper reporter while still in his teens, supporting "local" news items in some dozen or more papers throughout the state. The originality of his style brought him to the attention of Robert L. Taylor, former Governor of Tennessee and owner of Bob Taylor's Magazine, who employed Hill to write "success stories" about famous men. A few of the numerous achievements of our Mastermind Alliance were: co-founding "Success Unlimited" magazine, co-authoring Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude, developing the "PMA Science of Success Course" and, most importantly, laying the foundation that guaranteed the achievement of Hill's Definite Major Purpose in Life. Hill's Definite Major Purpose was to spread the Philosophy of Achievement (the 17 Principles of Success) worldwide to this and future generations.

Technorati Tags:Motivation, Napoleon Hill, Motivational Speakers, Lifestyle

Complementing each other

Remember the last time you were paid a sincere compliment? Remember how good it made you feel? Remember how you immediately wanted to do something in return for the person who complimented you?
Paying someone a sincere compliment is a great way to build a relationship or begin a conversation. It makes the other person feel important and acknowledges their uniqueness. We all need to feel this. We all like to hear complimentary comments to help reinforce our self image.
A compliment costs you nothing to give and can be the most rewarding gift you can give to another human being. A compliment must be sincere. People see right through false ones and ones without sincerity
Make a habit of freely offering sincere compliments to people you encounter. This is so important, especially in our hurried, harried and seemingly impersonal society. There will be times when the compliment a person receives from you, a total stranger, is the only nice comment they hear that day. You can make a persons day with a simple nicety, spoken with caring and sincerity.

Tags: Complements, Rewarding, Acknowledge, sincere

Effortless Abundance

Too often, we believe that hard work is the one and only way to achieve all our goals. However, we often end up working at cross purposes, because we sacrifice our happiness and inner desires for outer success. Effortless abundance is a self-actualization concept which focuses on attaining all that you desire through a "matching" of your inner inspirations with your outer actions. It focuses on high performance, in alignment with your core priorities and values. When you find a way of being that allows you to express who you really are, you will find that you attract all the good things in life with very little effort.

Tags: Effortless, Abundance, Hardwork, Performance

Self Confidence

Self-confidence is an attitude which allows individuals to have positive yet realistic views of themselves and their situations. Self-confident people trust their own abilities, have a general sense of control in their lives, and believe that, within reason, they will be able to do what they wish, plan, and expect.

Having self-confidence does not mean that individuals will be able to do everything. Self-confident people have expectations that are realistic. Even when some of their expectations are not met, they continue to be positive and to accept themselves.

People who are not self-confident depend excessively on the approval of others in order to feel good about themselves. They tend to avoid taking risks because they fear failure. They generally do not expect to be successful. They often put themselves down and tend to discount or ignore compliments paid to them. By contrast, self-confident people are willing to risk the disapproval of others because they generally trust their own abilities. They tend to accept themselves; they don't feel they have to conform in order to be accepted.

Self-confidence is not necessarily a general characteristic which pervades all aspects of a person's life. Typically, individuals will have some areas of their lives where they feel quite confident, e.g.,academics, athletics, while at the same time they do not feel at all confident in other areas, e.g., personal appearance, social relationships.

Technorati Tags:
confidence
atitude

Is it Self-esteem or Self-confidence?

On a human level and perhaps whilst growing up, our religion, the influence of the culture of where we grew up in and our parents, are all factors that influence and contribute to our level of self-confidence and self-esteem.
Self-Confidence is the level of where we are aware of ourselves, in concern of our abilities, gifts and knowledge. The opposition is lack of self-confidence. This is where we have the awareness of our capabilities; however, we do not have enough drive toward making changes in any conviction we hold, in respect of what we believe in. We grow to feel safe and comfortable with what we are used to in our surroundings. The idea of embracing new opportunities that offer change become somewhat fearful thus is reflecting the fact that we are scared to make a leap to an unknown environment.
Self-Esteem is the level where we are lost within our own identity. It is a common trait for most of us that we tend to sit in the ‘back seat’ allowing other people to take control of what, in reality, should be our own decisions, allowing ourselves to become dependant on others to handle our affairs. This will most likely lead us into becoming a doormat for other people to toss us around in order to meet their own selfish ends.
When looking around us, we can see that for many of us our confidence in recognizing our own true identity begun during childhood. This is not a natural characteristic of which we are born with. We can see an increasing amount of the younger generation of our society attempting to imitate a star, of whom, they idolize. This is not a mere phase through which they may be passing. In many ways this is an attempt to disguise their lack of confidence in themselves by trying to portray a new look or face to other people, from whom they are striving to gain approval or recognition by pretending to be someone they are not.

via Joseph Ghabi

Tags: confidence, self-esteem, recognition,

Control your thoughts

I was reading a newsletter last night and I saw something I will like to share with you. Friends, you have what it takes to succeed right now, inside you. It's merely a matter of tapping into the right information at the right time. And while it's true that you'll need to look to outside sources for new and helpful information, the baulk of change and success starts with and continues through you and your own thoughts. So what we have isn't a problem with the principle, but a problem with how to put the principle into practice. The idea that you have an amazing power within you is true, but without knowing how to tap into that power the principle is useless.

via www.motivation123.com
Tags: success, thoughts, principles,

Quote of the day

Man, alone, has the power to transform his thoughts into physical reality; man, alone, can dream and make his dreams come true.

A Happiness Poem

If a happiness poem could bring forth a smile,
Then my face would always dress in style.

If my ears could hear my computer screen,
From one to another, they, too, would grin.

My keyboard types for my eyes not my tongue This happiness poem will never be sung.

But what of my eyes? Organization is the natural state, and disorganization is pathological.

• The organism can be analyzed by differentiating its parts, but no part can be studied in isolation. The whole functions according to laws that cannot be found in the parts.

• The organism has one sovereign drive, that of self-actualization. People strive continuously to realize their inherent potential by whatever avenues are open to them.

• The influence of the external environment on normal development is minimal. The organism's potential, if allowed to unfold by an appropriate environment, will produce a healthy, integrated personality.

• The comprehensive study of one person is more useful than the extensive investigation, in many people, of an isolated psychological function.

• The salvation of the human being is not to be found in either behaviorism or in psychoanalysis, (which deals with only the darker, meaner half of the individual). We must deal with the questions of value, individuality, consciousness, purpose, ethics and the higher reaches of human nature.

• Man is basically good not evil.

• Psychopathology generally results from the denial, frustration or twisting of our essential nature.

• Therapy of any sort, is a means of restoring a person to the path of self-actualization and development along the lines dictated by their inner nature.

• When the four basic needs have been satisfied, the growth need or self-actualization need arises: A new discontent and restlessness will develop unless the individual is doing what he individually is fitted for. A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write--in shsort, what people can be they must be.

Tags: consciousness, actalisation, therapy , development, integrity, Consistency

Determination

Once there was a thirsty crow. She had flown a long way looking for water to drink.
Suddenly she saw a pitcher. She flew down and saw it held a little water, but it was so low in the pitcher that she could not reach it.
“But I must have that water,” she cried. “I am too weary to fly farther. What shall I do? I know! I’ll tip the pitcher over.”
She beat it with her wings, but it was too heavy. She could not move it.
Then she thought awhile. “I know now! I will break it! Then I will drink the water as it pours out. How good it will taste!”
With beak and claws and wings she threw herself against the pitcher. But it was too strong.
The poor crow stopped to rest. “What shall I do now? I cannot die of thirst with water close by. There must be a way, if I only had wit enough to find it out.”
After a while the crow had a bright idea. There were many small stones lying about. She picked them up one by one and dropped them into the pitcher. Slowly the water rose, till at last she could drink it. How good it tasted!
“There is always a way out of hard places,” said the crow, “if only you have the wit to find it.”

"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination are omnipotent. The slogan press on has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race. No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor has been the reward for what he gave."

Develop yourself.

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.
People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.
Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.
As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands; one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

Be a student. There would be no inside to a room without an outside. You have a right and left side to your body, a front and a back. Every up has a down and every down has an up. The Law of Polarity not only states that everything has an opposite -- it is equal and opposite. If it was three feet from the floor up to the table, it would be three feet from the table down to the floor. If it is 150 miles from Manchester to London, by law it must be 150 miles from London to Manchester; it could not be any other way.

"If something you considered bad happens in your life, there has to be something good about it. If it was only a little bad, when you mentally work your way around to the other side, you will find it will only be a little good." when I find myself in trying circumstances I put the circumstance in the middle of a circle. I then mentally walk around the circumstance until I'm on the other side. Then I let my mind go to work examining things from that perspective. And I'm never disappointed at what I find.

No matter how bad the circumstance appears to be, taking another look, from another perspective, reveals to us the good. Or, as Napoleon Hill, author of the classic Think and Grow Rich, wrote, "Every adversity, every failure and every heartache carries with it the seed of an equivalent or a greater benefit."

And that’s worth thinking about.

via vic johnson

The efficiency of your mindset

To keep at the top of your game you have to keep a clear head.
You can't afford to fill up on news and negativity. Someone else came up with that, but I've always remembered it because it's true. Our actions show who we truly are and how shallow or deep our character is.

Where you are today is a direct reflection of the words, thoughts and actions you took days, months and years ago. No matter how much some people blame their parents, teachers, where they grew up, television, the government or anything else, the truth is that nobody got them where they are today but themselves. The longer we choose to not take responsibility for our lives, the longer we'll living uninspired lives that we don't love.

I've heard 40 year old adults who complain about their lives and take no responsiblility for what they've created. You can't see it, but it's there when you look at yourself in the mirror. You can't hear it, but it's there every time you talk about yourself. What is this important but mysterious thing? It's your self-esteem!

What Is Self-Esteem?To understand self-esteem, it helps to break the term into two words. Let's take a look at the word esteem first. Esteem (say: ess-teem) is a fancy word for thinking that someone or something is important or valuing that person or thing. For example, if you really admire your friend's dad because he volunteers at the fire department, it means you hold him in high esteem. And the special trophy for the most valuable player on a team is often called an esteemed trophy. This means the trophy stands for an important accomplishment.

And self means, well, yourself! So put the two words together and it's easier to see what self-esteem is. It's how much you value yourself and how important you think you are. It's how you see yourself and how you feel about your achievements.

Self-esteem isn't bragging about how great you are. It's more like quietly knowing that you're worth a lot (priceless, in fact!). It's not about thinking you're perfect - because nobody is - but knowing that you're worthy of being loved and accepted.

Technorati Tags: achievement great value

Nature as a motivator.

Nature is a self-made machine, more perfectly automated than any automated machine. Further, this nature is styled Truth; and it is the first cause of all that is true.
Marcus Aurelius

But mighty Nature bounds as from her birth;
The sun is in the heavens, and life on earth:
Flowers in the valley, splendor in the beam,
Health on the gale, and freshness in the stream.
Lord Byron

All Nature wears one universal grin.
Henry Fielding

The sky is the daily bread of the eyes.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Nature is an endless combination and repetition of a very few laws.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Come forth into the light of things,
Let Nature be your teacher.
William Wordsworth

In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous.
Aristotle

Come forth into the light of things:
let Nature be your teacher.
William Wordsworth

The laws of nature are written deep in the folds and faults of the earth. By encouraging men to learn those laws one can lead them further to a knowledge of the author of all laws.
John Joseph Lynch

Quote of the day

A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write,
if he is to be at peace with himself. The first thing to note about self-actualisation is that it is a process not a goal. In other words, self-actualisation is not something that you aim for: it is something that you do. The second thing to note is that self-actualisation is not restricted to high-profile, high-achieving individuals; you don't have to be famous to self-actualise.

Self-actualisers feel safe, calm, accepted, loved, loving and alive. They share a number of characteristics.

Peak Experience
Self-actualisers frequently experience moments of high excitement, ecstasy, harmony and deep meaning.

Higher purpose.
Self-actualisers have a mission in life. They attempt to solve problems and pursue goals that are outside of themselves.

Spontaneous
Self-actualisers are willing to take risks and experiment with their lives. They are unrestrained and uninhibited.

Fresh and renewed appreciation.
Every day provides an opportunity to enjoy the good things that life has to offer. Self-actualisers never tire of seeing (for example) a golden sunset. Their enjoyment and appreciation are as intense the twentieth time as they were the first.

Social interest.
Self-actualisers take an interest in others. They care about the well being of others and the community in which they live. Additionally, their relationships with loved ones are deep and committed.

Comfortable with being alone.
As well as enjoying close relationships with others, self-actualisers enjoy their own company. They regularly enjoy being alone.

Sense of humor.
Self-actualisers are able to laugh at themselves. Because their sense of humor is non-hostile, they are able to make jokes about others that are not hurtful or spiteful.

Critical thinking.
Self-actualisers are not easily fooled. They are both open-minded and skeptical, willing to consider all ideas, but equally willing to dismiss them if they don't stand up to critical analysis.

Accepting of imperfection.
Self-actualisers are comfortable with their own flaws as well as the flaws in others. Similarly, they calmly accept that life is full of uncertainty and frustration.

Self-directed.
self-actualisers are autonomous; they choose the direction of their own lives. They are independent and resourceful.

Things you need to know

Before positive changes can take place, you must take
responsibility for your position in life. You are in
control of your future and are the only one who can
guarantee a better life. If you play the role of a victim,
giving up control and ownership of your life, you will
never enjoy the amazing opportunities that life offers to
us.

Write in a Journal
A million thoughts may rush through your mind each day, but
if you do nothing to capture them, they often disappear as
quickly as they came. Take time to write in a journal each
week. This will not only help you overcome obstacles you are
facing in your life but also help you discover what you
really want.

Who Do You Admire?
Make a list of at least three people that you admire. With
your list in hand describe what it is that you most respect
about each individual. Often pinpointing what we admire in
others offers insight into what we wish to become
ourselves.

The Moment
Remember a time when everything seemed to be going just
right? When nothing could get you down? When you thought to
yourself, 'This moment, right now, is what life is all
about.' We all have moments in life when we feel we are at
our best, but most people don't utilize them. Use the
special moments in your life to bring to light goals and
desires that are sure to fulfill your needs. Learning from
and building on these times will help you create magic
moments on a daily basis for the rest of your life.

A Friendly Brainstorming Session
Gather a group of your closest friends, the ones who know
you better than anyone else, and use their knowledge about
you and your life to help you brainstorm goal and dream
ideas. They will likely offer ideas you never considered
yourself.

What don't you want?
Sometimes the easiest way to uncover what you want is to
know exactly what you don't want. It all depends on your
particular personality. Some find it very difficult to
create specific goals, but these same people have no
trouble explaining in detail what they hate. Sometimes
working in the opposite direction of what you hate can be
the key to discovering your goals and dreams.

Keep a Notebook in Goal-Creating Areas
Browsing the internet offers hundreds of ideas that you can
use to help you create your own personal goals. The same is
true of your sleep. Because of this it's vital that you
keep a notebook handy while watching television and on your
nightstand to jot down any goal ideas that come to you.

Impossible to Fail
People are more than capable of creating compelling dreams,
but the fear of failure often clouds the path. To avoid
this pitfall, imagine that it is impossible to fail. What
dreams and desires would you pursue if you were guaranteed
success?

Your Ideal Life
Think ahead. Imagine living your ideal life in five years.
Then ten and twenty years. What would you be doing? With
whom would you be doing it? What would your life look like
on a daily basis? Use the picture of a future life to
create goals and desires in the present

Get Specific
In order for you to create lasting change in your life, you
have to be super specific about what you want. Vague ideas
just won't cut it. The more specific you make your desires,
the easier it will be to act on them. Cloudy hopes create
obstacles. You have to know exactly what you want, down to
the smallest detail.

Technorati Tags: success positive change desires

via isaexperience.com

The Secret to LifeHappiness & Successlong

With as much honesty and openness as you can muster, answer the following questions...

Do you absolutely love what you do for a living?

Are you in excellent shape both inside and out?

Do you have as much money as you need and want?

Are your relationships with friends and family meaningful and rewarding?

Are you living each day as the person you'd always hoped you'd become?

My wish is that you were able to answer yes to each question, but it's not always easy to make these things happen, is it? You work hard every day and have the best of intentions, but still you struggle to create the life you really want to live.

Perhaps you can even relate to several of the common problems described below:

Heading off to an unchallenging, unfulfilling, and low-paying job without any prospects of a bright and satisfying career in the future. Spending forty hours every week working for someone you don't admire or respect.

Feeling unhappy and guilty about the way you look and afraid of the health risks that come with being out of shape. Running out of energy and feeling exhausted even before the day has run out. Wanting to change and live a healthier lifestyle but struggling to make it happen.

Living paycheck to paycheck without being able to put money aside for savings, investments, or retirement. Feeling guilty about not being able to provide the nicer things in life for your family, and terrified at the thought of growing old without enough money to get by.

Feeling alone and disconnected from others - even in a long-term relationships. Wanting to make new friends and enjoy fulfilling relationships with family and friends but unable to make it happen.

Living by routine without any joy or excitement, unable to change negative habits or patterns. Doing the same things day after day and never feeling truly happy or fulfilled. Having to deal with constant worry, stress, and feelings of hopelessness.
While not every scenario hit home, I'm sure you've dealt with at least a handful of these feelings in your life. And you're not alone. Literally millions of people just like you are hoping to live a happier, more successful life, but the sad reality is that most will never find what they're looking for.

They'll live their entire lives without ever experiencing a rich, lively, exciting, and immensely rewarding life - and it's not through a lack of desire or effort.

If you haven't created the life you've always wanted to experience, it's not because you don't work hard or don't deserve it. And it's definitely not because you're simply a bad person.

No, the actual reason you're not getting everything you want in life is because you're missing a single critical skill...

Most of the problems in life stem from one cause: we can't get ourselves to take some type of action. Whether it's changing our diet and working out or taking a risk and going back to school, actions stand between where we are and where we want to be.

As you already know, it's not that we don't know what to do - the answers to what we need to do are all around us. The problem is getting ourselves to follow through and do it.

So what's the problem? Why don't we simply get up and go? As you know, it's not that easy.

Fear, sacrifice, procrastination, ingrained habits...so many obstacles stand in the way of a happier, more successful life. Every step of the way you have amazingly powerful forces working against you trying to keep you from changing.

With this in mind, it's easy to understand why people have such a difficult time improving their lives and achieving their goals.

But what if you could make obstacles like fear and procrastination disappear in an instant? What if you could close your eyes for just a second or two and immediately feel driven to do whatever it took to get what you wanted?

This is the rare gift of the greatest successes on earth, the special ability only a handful of people have that allows them to experience a quality of life far beyond your wildest dreams.

Some of them don't even know they have this unbelievable skill; they just seem to get whatever they want, whenever they want it. Others understand what it is and how best to use it. But for the rest of us, this unique gift is a complete and utter mystery.

Not anymore.

The Ability that Will Change You Forever

Just like riding a bike or playing piano, motivation is a skill that can be learned and mastered - and with ease. It's not that getting yourself to act is difficult; it's simply that no one has ever shared with you the entire process in a way that was easy to understand and apply, if they taught you at all.

To solve this problem for the millions of people just like you who want to live richer, more rewarding lives,

Simply by following six short steps you will gain the rare ability of instant motivation. You will actually be able to overcome all of your fears and worries and instantly feel driven to act toward your goals.

Just imagine what you could achieve in your lifetime with the ability to motivate action at the drop of a hat. You could be like one of the many readers who have made The Motivated Mind a part of their lives and enjoy experiences like...

A career you absolutely love. Challenging, exciting, and satisfying work you can't wait to get to in the morning. Co-workers you count as good friends and a knowledgeable boss who greatly admires you and your work.

A brand new body - in shape, attractive, and healthy. More energy and juice than ever before, without a hint of the old aches and pains, not to mention the worries that come from living an unhealthy lifestyle. And best of all - a longer life.

Earning enough money to save, invest, and prepare for a comfortable retirement. Being able to donate to those in need and provide for your loved ones. And finally, enjoying a few perks in life - a new home, a new car, and vacations to the tropics.

Finding it easy to make new friends and develop relationships that make you feel on top of the world. Let Go of the Past
Before you can create a better future, you must let go of the pains in your past. Failing once does not mean you will fail forever. Learn from your history, but don't let it stand as an obstacle between you and your dreams.

2. Remember Success
Just as important as learning from and overcoming past failure is recalling past success. It doesn't matter who you are, you have succeeded at something at sometime in your past. Don't gloss over these moments. Use them to remind you that you can in fact achieve your goals.

3. Realize the Possibilities
It's possible. The dreams you hold in your heart but push to the back of your mind are within your reach. Accept the fact that you can create a better life. This will serve as the springboard of belief you need to succeed.

4. Dream the Big Dream
In order for dreams and desires to inspire you to action and achievement, they need to be big. If you don't get excited about what you have planned for the future, you will never find the inspiration you need to change your life. Powerful dreams can move the soul, and when you dream the big dream, you will be driven to make the compelling picture a tangible reality.

5. Thinking Your Way to Change
No matter how bad you want it to happen, change will never result from thinking alone - you must take action. The world is swimming in dreamers, but only those who act on their desires achieve truly remarkable results.

6. A Daily Habit to Begin Today
Set aside at least 30 minutes each night to review your day and plan for the next. It's a simple way to add an element of control to your life. Also, beginning this habit today will help tremendously when you begin to work toward your exciting and inspiring goals and dreams.

7. Mix It Up
The wrong routine can spell certain doom for your goals and dreams. To make sure this doesn't happen to you, add at least one new step to your daily routine to help break up the pattern. One new activity will set the stage for many more in the future, making it possible for you to break free of any negative routines.

8. A Team Sport
Don't go at this alone. Achieving a goal or dream requires a team effort. There will be times when you feel like giving up, when you feel like it's too much to take. One of the surest ways to overcome these small setbacks is to have the support and guidance of your goal partner.

9. Get excited about what's to come
You are on your way to getting everything you have ever wanted! Now is the time to get excited and inspired about what your future holds. Imagine living your ideal life - now make it happen!

10. Raise Your Standards
It's time to raise your standards. It's time to expect more out of yourself than anyone else. Accept nothing less than your absolute best in all that you do and you'll have no problem creating your ideal life. After all, you'd expect nothing less than living the life of your dreams.

The hierarchy of needs

You and each child and adult in your life are ceaselessly motivated to fill current needs - psychological, physical, and spiritual discomforts. Problems, upset, conflict, and worries are caused by unfilled needs. The learnable relationship skills of awareness and metatalk can help your family members identify and help each other fill your primary (vs. surface) needs, and raise the nurturance-level of your homes.
In 1968, students of human behavior began to study psychologist
Abraham Maslow's
newly updated book Toward A Psychology of Being. A theme of his observations about how we all think, feel, and act has been called the "hierarchy of needs." It looks like this:

Maslow proposed that every child and adult has overlapping needs that fall into naturally-ranked levels or priorities:

Level 1: reduce current physical discomforts first: hunger, thirst, pain, air, temperature, smells, balance, noise, light, and rest (sleep). When those are satisfied enough now...

Level 2: We try to fill our need to feel safe enough in the near future. Safety comes from trusting that our level-one needs and protection from local dangers will be reliably met in the coming days and weeks (our safety zone). In our society, that translates into believing that we'll have a dependable source of money to buy those securities. The safety zone is short for some people, longer for fear-based (wounded) others.

Maslow suggested that when we feel comfortable and safe enough, we then try to fill...

Level 3: our need for companionship: our primitive need to feel accepted by, and part of, a group of other people. We need to feel we belong to (are accepted by) a family, tribe, group, or clan. The alternative is feeling we're alone in the world, which is not only lonely, but less safe. For infants, being alone too long means dying. People abandoned emotionally or physically too often as infants unconsciously grow personality subselves who remain terrified of abandonment in adulthood. Alternatively, their subselves protect them from (another) devastating abandonment by (unconsciously) never bonding with anyone.

Semi-conscious terror of rejection and abandonment is one root of relationship enmeshment and addiction, or codependence. The other root is excessive shame. Unacknowledged codependence and it's underlying false-self wounds often cause adults to unconsciously pick the wrong mates over and over again, until they choose to heal. Personal recovery can partially heal each root of co-dependence, over time. These ideas gained acceptance after (1980+) Maslow proposed this hierarchy of needs.

If we feel our level 1, 2, and 3 needs are satisfied enough, then we're free to work at filling...

Level 4: our need to be recognized as special and valuable by our group. We need to be more than just a featureless face in the crowd, we need to be known and appreciated. Survivors of low-nurturance childhoods who were shamed too often as young children often endlessly search for the specialness and praise that they never got. Paradoxically, their false self discounts praise when it's offered ("I really don't deserve it..."). Until recovery releases them from this endless quest, such burdened, unaware people are never really free to achieve...

Level 5: the need to be self actualized. A key reason people still value Maslow's ideas is the universal longing to be fully ourselves. That implies we each have unique talents and abilities that we long to develop and use to benefit the world if all our other need-levels are filled well enough, often enough. Then we can become creative, energized, centered, focused, and productive and live "at our highest personal potential."

Are you living there? Do you know what self actualization feels like? Do you know anyone whom you feel is "living at their highest personal potential"? Did your parents and key caregivers achieve this prize? Has your mate?

Pause and reflect: does this natural ranking of primal human needs make sense to you? If it doesn't, do you have an alternate explanation for why we all behave the way we do...

via Abraham Maslow

WHO ARE WE?

We are human beings made up of body, mind and soul. We are humans and not animals.we have dignity. Our dignity as human being is inalienable. It cannot be seperated from us. We are dignified because we are human our dignity is in-built. This means that anything that undermines our dignity reduces our humanity, dehumanises us, anything that undermines our dignity places us in a position that is unworthy of the human being.
The body is everything you can see in a human whether with the naked eye or through a microscope, or what we can see when we open up a person through an operation. The body includes our face, height, our size, our internal organs like our kidney, heart, brain etc. we should take good and proper care of our body, we must accept our bodies as they are, and know that the way we have been made by God, is good. We must not try to change ourselves out of dissatisfaction with our physical appearance. Nobody has a perfect body yet every human body is INVALUABLE. This means that the human body is precious that we cannot put a price on it. By virtue of our human nature, we are special, unique creatures having being made in the image and likeness of God, possessing the dignity that no other living creatures possess; we are beautiful, wonderful creatures.

self awareness

it includes knowing that we are made up of body, mind and soul and that these three aspects of us cannotbe seperated from each other as long as we are alive.
Knowing ourselves includes knowing tjat we are in this world for a purpose, ythat each and every person has a purpose for being in this world. Self knowledge and self-acceptance are the foundations of a successful and fulfilled life. With a sound knowledge of oneself, a person can work to attain his/her fullest potentials knowing who we are helps us to know our strenghs and our weaknesses, It helps us to chart our own life's course; to know the path to follow in life and how to live a more contended and fulfillled life.
Unfortunately, many people go through life without really knowing who they are, without ever asking the question"who am I" For such people, self knowledgde is limited to knowing one's name, one's village or hometown, one's occupation, likes and dislikes. While all these are part and parcel of self knowledge, they only provide a superficial or surface knowledge of who we are. Good self knowledge is something deeper and richer.
For us to live a fulfilled life, we have to understand our true selves, we have to know our origins, our ideas, our feelings, our vision and our mission in life, our strenghs and weaknesses and everyhting that has to do with ourselves. When we fail to know and understand ourselves, we find it difficult to cope with life,s challenges and to approach success and failure with equanimity. When we lack self awareness we may spend our whole lives trying to live other people's lives, either by imitating and copying others or by trying to make others become carbon copies of ourselves.
